2° Day: (H.B) Chioggia – Porto Levante/ Cà Tiepolo

Breakfast at the hotel and departure. The start of the route through the Po Delta could not be better. The history of the Delta is deeply linked to Venice, which designed its contours with a huge work of hydraulic engineering: the Taglio di Porto Viro. Chioggia, also known as Little Venice, has a wonderful cycle path that runs along the Lusenzo lagoon, which is the first section of our itinerary and will take you first to Sottomarina and then to Brondolo. Particular attention should be paid to the crossing of the river Brenta, which you must do by passing over the bridge of the SS Romea; immediately afterwards turn right and follow the Po Brondolo lagoon canal, until you reach the Adige. Even in this case, we cross the river on the SS Romea and once past it we take the Destra Adige in the direction of the mouth, a cycle path that we follow until we meet the Via delle Valli. Here begin twelve kilometres of extraordinary beauty, the route runs through lagoons and fishing basins that will take you to the Po di Levante, at the mouth of which is the ferry-boat that allows you to reach Porto Levante. Dinner and overnight stay.

3° Day: (H.B) Porto Levante/Cà Tiepolo – Volano – Pomposa

After breakfast we start again riding the bike. At Porto Levante begins the section of the Via delle Valli sud, which runs along the embankment separating the lagoon from the fishing basins and arrives at Ca' Tiepolo along two different routes. Once in Scanarello, a handful of houses on the banks of the Po di Maistra, you can either take the road that leads to Boccasette or the one that leads to Ca' Venier. In both cases, cycling along the banks of the Po di Maistra you arrive at the bridge that crosses the Po di Venezia and leads to the Isola della Donzella. Descending from the bridge we continue along the cycle path until first reaching Ca' Mello, a small hamlet of Porto Tolle, and then on to the Sacca degli Scardovari, with the splendid panoramic road that runs alongside it. Heading south we find in quick succession Santa Giulia, after the first pontoon bridge Gorino Sullam and before the other pontoon bridge Gorino Veneto. Once in Emilia we continue along the embankment of the Po di Goro as far as the village of the same name, cycling around the characteristic port and taking the road that runs alongside the Sacca di Goro, crossing the Gran Bosco della Mesola, we arrive at Volano/Pomposa. Accommodation in a hotel/farmhouse, dinner and overnight stay.

Pomposa

 4° Day: (B.B) Pomposa – Comacchio

Breakfast at the hotel and departure. From Pomposa Abbey we continue to Volano, following roads with low traffic density through the reclaimed areas of the Valle Giralda. Along the way we can admire the Oasi di Canneviè, the Torre della Finanza on the bank of the Po di Volano and finally arrive at Lido di Volano, the northernmost of the Lidi di Comacchio surrounded by the mouth of the Po di Volano, the Sacca di Goro and a lovely pine forest. We take the cycle path that crosses the Pineta di Volano Nature Reserve and leads to Lido delle Nazioni. From here you continue towards the beaches of Pomposa and Scacchi until you reach Porto Garibaldi, one of the most important ports in the North Adriatic with its fleet of fishing boats for catching blue fish. Here you can taste or buy excellent fresh fish. Thanks to the ferry-boat for bicycles and pedestrians in the canal-port, you can reach Lido degli Estensi and from there head towards the Comacchio Lagoon along a stretch of road and then a cycle path. You cannot miss a stop for a panoramic view from the tower on the Logonovo canal and, along the way, surrounded by the water of Valle Fattibello and the Saline, the spectacle offered by the flight of numerous flamingos and other birds before arriving in Comacchio. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel/farmhouse.

5° Day: (H.B) Comacchio – Argenta

Breakfast and departure. During the morning visit to the historic centre of Comacchio, rich in churches and bridges, including its symbol: Trepponti, a seventeenth-century pentarch bridge that recalls the village's lagoon past. We recommend an excursion by "batana", the typical lagoon boat made available and driven by volunteer boatmen along the internal canals, a visit to the Cathedral of San Cassiano, the Loggiato dei Cappuccini leading to the Church of Santa Maria in Aula Regia and the Museum of the Manifattura dei Marinati, the ancient factory where marinated eel is still prepared today. At the end of the tour, we proceed to Argenta along the Comacchio Lagoon on the Argine Agosta and crossing the reclaimed Mezzano marshes to join the cycle path of the River Reno or, following roads with little traffic, we reach Argenta directly. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel/farmhouse.

6° Day: (B.B) Argenta – Ferrara

Breakfast and departure. Near Argenta, a town razed to the ground by the allies during the Second World War, worth a visit is the ancient Pieve di San Giorgio, the Argenta and Marmorta Lagoon: freshwater marshes with reclamation purposes and the Traversante woodland is a must. Here you can go birdwatching and visit two particular museums: the Argenta Valleys Natural History Museum and the Renana Reclamation Museum. Then along the cycle path and part of the road, which runs alongside the Po di Primaro, we reach Ferrara around 18h00. Accommodation in the reserved rooms (free time for dinner). Overnight stay in hotel.

7° Day: (B.B) Ferrara – Adria

After breakfast the morning is dedicated to visiting the city and its main monuments. In the early afternoon departure towards Adria. We ride along the cycle path up to Francolino and then continue along the Destra Po up to Ro Ferrarese, where we cross the bridge over the Po to reach Polesella, on the Venetian side. Proceeding on the left bank of the Po, the route follows the embankment road that follows the great river, from which the landscape is dominated both towards the Po and the countryside beside it. The route continues to Papozze or Bottrighe and from there it is a short ride to the town of Adria. Visit to the historic centre and accommodation in the rooms. Free time for dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.

8° Day: (B.B) Adria – Chioggia

After breakfast we leave for the Delta Park and Chioggia. Cycling along the banks of the Canal Bianco: the Padana waterway we arrive at Cavanella Po. From here we head towards Loreo with its lovely centre, which is worth a stop before continuing along the dirt road that runs alongside the canal of the Po Brondolo Lagoon, towards Rosolina until we meet the Adige. Cross the river over the SS Romea bridge and then proceed along the canal from Cavanella d'Adige to the Brenta. Also in this case the route returns to the SS Romea to cross the river and then immediately joins the road to Brondolo and Sottomarina. The last section of the route is the wonderful cycle path along the Lusenzo lagoon that will take you to the historic centre of Chioggia. Free time for dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
